Maria is a globally networked Slovak-Canadian youth leader with a passion for writing, good governance, interest in transformative and purpose-driven leadership and academic background in public policy and international relations. Having worked both in Canada and Europe, she has over six years of cross-cultural and inter-sector professional experience and she is an alumna of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers community and a remote governance advisor for Anti Corruption International and the Youth-to-Youth (Y2Y) Initiative.
Maria holds a Master of Arts in Public and International Affairs and a Bachelor of Social Sciences in International Studies and Modern Languages from the University of Ottawa, and she is fluent in English, French, Spanish, Slovak and Czech.
As an avid advocate of microactions she founded Microleaders with a sincere hope of the blog becoming a social enterprise that will encourage community betterment through microleadership – an ideology derived from purpose-driven leadership. MicroLeaders’ goal is to bring together and feature innovative initiatives from around the world to encourage, recognize, and support grass-root projects that are driving positive social change at a community level.
